One-Off Property Tax Rebate in 2026: What Homeowners Need to Know

29 Nov 2025 News

Singaporeans will be getting a one-off property tax rebate in 2026, and it’s pretty straightforward. If you own and live in your home (HDB or private), here’s the simple breakdown of what you get, why it’s happening, and how it’s going to show up on your tax bill.

Rebate Details (2026)

Both HDB and private owner-occupiers get a rebate, but the percentage differs slightly.

Property Type Rebate % Cap
Owner-occupied HDB 15% Up to $500
Owner-occupied private homes 10% Up to $500

How the rebate will be given?

IRAS will compute your 2026 property tax as usual, send you the tax bill in December 2025, and the rebate (15% or 10%, up to $500) will be automatically deducted from that bill.

Why Is the Government Giving This Rebate?

Property taxes are going up because annual values have risen, thanks to the rental market running hot in recent years.

Rather than let homeowners feel the full spike at once, the government is using this one-off rebate to soften the jump. It’s temporary, not a long-term subsidy; more of a “let’s cushion the blow” measure while costs stabilize.
