SIEA e-learning CPD: what to expect after signing up
I signed up for the SIEA CPD bundle I wrote about earlier, mainly for the self-paced e-learning. Here’s what I’ve learned so far.
Getting access
My e-learning links arrived 23 days after payment was confirmed. The Zoom invitation came separately, a week before the class. Your timing may differ depending on the bundle.
Creating a Thinkific account doesn’t automatically add the course to your dashboard. Here’s what worked for me:
- Create your Thinkific account using your CEA registration number and CEA-registered name.
- While signed in, return to SIEA’s email and open the course link again.
- Click Start now to enrol and enter the course.
- Repeat with the second course’s link when you’re ready.

If everything else confuses you, remember the annual requirement: 12 hours SL + 4 hours SDL = 16 hours.
- SL = Structured Learning
- SDL = Self-directed Learning
Whenever you’re unsure about a course, check which category it falls under: SL or SDL. Don’t guess from whether it’s self-paced or on Zoom. I found that confusing too.
Here’s SIEA’s September Bundle 9 as an example:

The point of a full annual CPD bundle is that the provider packages the required topics, including mandatory training, for you. You don’t need to untangle every PE, PC or GC label yourself. Check that the bundle covers the full 12 SL + 4 SDL requirement, then complete all its courses.
How the e-learning works
You can pause and resume, with progress saved automatically. The AML course has 6 modules and 43 items across videos and quizzes.
Module 2 has 7 videos lasting 2–7 minutes each, with a mini quiz after each video. The case-studies module groups several videos before a quiz, so the pattern varies.
The catch: you have 30 days from account activation to finish. My access email says there are no extensions; miss the deadline and you’ll need to enrol and pay again.
Self-paced. Still a deadline.
Finishing the course
I’ve now completed the AML course and got every quiz question right. I found the quizzes easy. The required assessment pass mark is 80%, and you still need to complete all modules.
Feedback is mandatory too. Complete any course feedback requested, and watch for SIEA’s follow-up email about pending CPD Portal feedback.
My course wasn’t showing in the CPD portal immediately after I finished. SIEA says certificates and CPD hours are expected within 7–14 working days after successful completion, so I’m waiting for the update. Once the course appears, I’ll complete the required feedback there too.
The Zoom sessions have separate attendance rules, including keeping your camera on. For the SDL marketing course in my bundle, there’s no assessment, but the e-certificate needs to go to my agency for endorsement and CPD recording.
